Abstract
The vines started flowering 5 months after transplanting. Flower huds took 46 days to open. Flower opening took place between 7-9 a.m. depending on the weather and they remained open till 10 a.m. the next morning. The crop is self-compatible and self-pollinated but cross-pollination can increase frui,t set. The fruit production had a smooth sigmoid curve and it attained maximum size in 24 days and reached full maturity in 88 days after anthesis. Fruit production was seasonal and fruiting peaks occurred three months after rainfall peaks. There was a drastic decline in yields over the three years.
