Abstract
Profit motivated organizations constantly evaluate the performance of their business activities. This enables them to identify new opportunities and threats occasioned by changes in the environment in which they operate. If historically successful business strategies are found to be ineffective for future competitiveness, drastic changes are sought and introduced to remedy the problem. These may include defining new business areas, dropping some of the old strategies, finding new investment resources, and strengthening the capacity to management. "Strategic Planning" is a term used for such an approach. It outlines how the organization will in future succeed and evolve its portfolio and historical priorities. '
