Abstract
The routine soil analysis methods in use at Kawanda Research Station, which include the determination of pH, organic matter, and extraditable phosphate, calcium and potassium, are described. Using these methods which involve no automatic equipment, seven technicians can complete the analysis of 46 soil samples per day, though further staff are required for soil preparation, recording of results and overall supervision. The precision of these methods and the correlation of results with those given by the methods in previous use are reported, and a rough guide to the interpretation of the results is given.
