Abstract
This report constitutes phases I and 11 surveys undertaken in KARl Kiboko, Makueni District in the months of June and August 2005. Briefly, the objectives were: 1) To determine the tsetse situation in KARI-Kiboko (southern and northern) ranches and the surrounding farmlands; 2) To measure seasonal prevalence of trypanosomosis and TBDs in Kiboko and the surrounding farms; 3) To establish the worm and tick infestation levels in KARl animals; 4) To assess: i) Knowledge, existence and management and trends in livestock diseases within the livestock keeping households; ii) Knowledge and use of trypanocidal drugs within the households, and trends in use of these drugs; iii) Trends in the utilisation of farmland and livestock numbers within the households; and, 5) To establish trends in land, vegetation and related resources within the KARl Kiboko ranches and outside in relation to bovine trypanosomiasis and other important livestock diseases.
