Abstract
The Multiple Use Act of the USA, Public Law 86-517, June 1960, states that all the various renewable surface resources of the forests will be so managed that they are utilized in the combination that will best meet the needs of the people. In this way the idea of the multiple use of resources becomes asocial idea. Contrary to forestry in Europe, single use of land is mostly the rule in developing countries with a sparse population and much land. Where population growth exists and urbanization takes place, only then does the need exist for a variety of land uses where the orientation of the use of the land should be directed primarily to the consumer (Rowe, and McCormack, 1968).
