Abstract
When problems of resettlement, overstocking and allied subjects are under consideration it is frequently desirable to know how many cattle the land will carry. Such a figure must of necessity have a very vague meaning; it will depend upon the type of cattle kept, whether additional food is used at times of grass shortage, whether the total number of cattle is increased or deceased at certain times of year by purchase or sale, and a number of other factors. It is believed, however, that experience gained at Serere during the past five years fill be of value to others concerned with similar problems.
