Abstract
Periodic summary studies of the reasons for the disposal or loss of dairy cows provide timely information concerning management land disease problems on dairy farms. (Pettit, 1940; Seath, 1940; AsdeU, 1951; Udris, 1954;Parker, Bayley, Fohran and Flow man, 1960; O"B1eness and Van Vleck, 1962; White and Nichols, 1965; Hangrove, Salazar and Legates, 1969; Burnside and Wilton, 1970, Burnside.Kowalchuk, Lambroughton and Macleod, 1971). The results .of such studies not only serve to guide extension personnel and veterinarians to major problems of management, breeding and disease on dairy farms hut also guide research workers ,to technical problems which are ()If practical importance to /the dairy man
