Abstract
Wheat can be grown during the rains, being planted in February, March or April. An irrigated crop can be taken between August December. New wheat varieties developed at Njoro are passed to the Wattle Company by the Tanzanian Department of Agriculture, The Wattle Company evaluates them in yield tests, paying particular attention to diseases, the most common of which are stem, leaf, and yellow rusts, glume and Leaf blotches, head blight, and foot rots. The procedures are shown in Table I.
