Abstract
During the year under review the research work of the Station made steady progress on the lines described in previous reports, save for the unavoidable interruptions caused in certain sections by the absence of officers on leave. In the sections of Plant Pathology and Soil Science the employment of European laboratory assistants enables routine work to be continued; in the other sections the leave of the officer in charge involves the complete closing down of work for a period of seven or eight months. This is an obviously uneconomical arrangement, since the general overhead charges are not appreciably reduced, and it is hoped that provision will eventually be made for junior assistants to be appointed.
