Kenya Soil Survey
Abstract
The Kenya Soil Survey (KSS) was established in 1972 and has been built up with the help of Dutch Technical Assistance into one of the leading soil survey organizations in Africa. Its role in national development comprises three aspects: 1) An inventory of information about soils, land and environment and their interrelationships with agricultural production for the whole country. 2) A service of surveyor advice as required for specific purposes of development or research. 3) Research on the most effective methods for collecting and presenting soils information and research on the characteristics of the main soils and environmental conditions.
