Abstract
The adult is a night-flying, nondescript looking moth with a wing span of t in. The larva is creamy pink with groups of dark brown spots along its back. The hooks on the false feet form a complete circle which is readily discernable under a hand lens, and it is on this character that the larva can be distinguished from the other main group of stem borers which include Busseola and Sesamia where the hooks are arranged in a crescent.
